Skin Circadian Clock: late night supper could get you sunburn?

Most of us know diet is directly linked with our skin health. For examples, sugar promotes inflammation and signs of aging like wrinkles and sagging; High GI (glycemic index) food would increase sebum production which is not good for acne. But are you aware WHEN you eat have an impact on your skin too?

A very interesting  study conducted in 2017 points out that having late night supper may trick the skin to think it was still early evening. This will delay the skin to activate the UVR-protective enzyme and increase the risk of sun exposure the next morning.

This study tells us two things:

1. Circadian clock plays a role in skin health.

2. no supper the night before any outdoor activities.
